Brigitte Bardot: The poster girl of the sex kitten look, and perhaps is the most infamous French actress ever. Bardot was the archetypal nymphet, with wild honey hair, the pouty lips, the big eyes, and (according to Time Magazine) she was "the countess of come hither". Brigitte worked her way through two foreign films a year during the 60s, released breathy record albums, and was known for her independent lifestyle and uninhibited sexuality.

I am French, and I don't think that in France we ever had another star like Bardot. Jeanne Moreau might be the only one who could come near, I don't think that Adjani even gets near that iconic status that Bardot reached. And she did really quit filming at the age of 40, as she did not want to grow older publicly. Her love of animals made her stay in the public eye later though and sadly her involvement with extreme right wing movements has too. Still, the French government decided that she could embody the French republic, and you can see her profile on French stamps as a result.

I like the photograph of her sitting in the wicker chair wearing that yellow feather outfit. That would be a great set-up even in modern day.
Bardot was UNIC.......The way she walks was amazing.. i saw her long time ago walking in the street: elegant, a gorgeous posture....
She was the original! often imitated...She was and is superb! Her lips are plump because she was born like that , not injected by some weird substance. Hope she never considers cosmetic surgery because I would love to see her beauty in an older woman .....
She really does have that strange "it" quality. I've always envied her hair as well as that gap in her teeth. Fantastic post... or should I say "magnifique"? Keep up the good work!

VIVA BRIGITTE BARDOT!!! She will always be the the one and only original "sex kitten." Others have copied and failed miserably such as poor Jessica Simpson, whom try as she might but ends up looking like some deranged version of BB.
